Are we all the same?

I was recently reading Sheena Iyengar's The Art of Choosing... And guess what statistics show that we as people love being different from the crowd. Like our experiences differ from that of the rest of the peoples of the world, like somehow we perceive things differently and like we really appreciate it if we are told that people are similar to us than us being similar to the crowd.

I don't have an issue with being part of the crowd, hell! I have been different from the crowd, at least the majority since my childhood days. Read it as being obese, but yea my heart ached to be like the crowd and look like all normal people look. I don't see, rather understand the road less traveled, if you really see the most popular people in this world, and that too well liked then it has to be the ones who are a part of the crowd, not only that but also popular opinion matches with theirs, better still some of them are capable of influencing the crowd to think like them.

Good news is, being popular isn't that difficult, bad news is that some people who think they are different might label you as mainstream.... ah who cares, for a politician this means amazing victory, for a musician this means touching the lives of many a people, for an actor this means acceptance and success of his skills, and for people like me, well let me put it this way, a measure of normalcy!!

I mean a Rolls Royce is one because we all aspire in our wildest dreams to have one, well not all of us can buy it, but that its something that we would lovvvveeeee to have!! My point here is that if something agrees with the masses' aspirations, that's how desirable your product/opinion/ideas etc are. If someone truly asks me that what is it that I wanna do, be unique or be a favorite of the masses, I would tread the road that's difficult to traverse, which is the road to the masses' hearts!!

Nevertheless my best wishes to those unique people, just because they have the courage and faith to do so!!
